What an astute observation. Please tell us more. 

Besides the obvious oversimplification, Perv’s response ignores that the “people” who were involved included individuals who were on both sides of the fan/hater spectrum and were bystander type individuals who commented out of the issues relevance i.e, a lot of the newscasters on television. This doesn’t surprise me though. I’ve been noticing that attempts to probe an issue and have a conversation deeper than face-valued simplifications are met with fierce resistance. Thinking critically doesn’t seem to be too popular around these parts.
